At the last book club I mentioned The Hunger Games. I thought I'd put up a post and make a legit recommendation.

Title: The Hunger Games (Catching Fire is the sequel)

Author: Suzanne Collins

Excerpt from Amazon review: "In a not-too-distant future, the United States of America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war, to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected ...

Brooke suggested that I read a series of books by Brandon Sanderson. The first is Mistborn which is totally amazing! I just finished the second called the Well of Ascension. (I think I mentioned these books at book club.) I loved the second book more than the first. I just started book #3, which is the last book in the series, entitled The Hero of Ages. If the past two are any indication, I will love it! These books are about as long as the Twilight series books and equally as compelling. ...

okay so whit mentioned Austenland in our last meeting and so i went i got it from the library and read it. It is really good. It is about a thirty something year old woman with an obsession with the colin firth's Mr. Darcy. she inherits this trip to "austenland" where she dresses like and acts like and lives like the time period Jane Austen's books take place. there is some romance in it and i love romance so yeah it is really good.

If you like fantasy books, then I have the ultimate recommendation for you: The Wheel of Time, a series by Robert Jordan. The first book in the series is The Eye of the World. There are 11 books currently written, plus one prequel. The 12th and final book is scheduled to come out in 2009.

I can't really give a synopsis because the series is too long to compress down to a paragraph. I can only say that if you invest the time to read these books then you won't regret it. These are my absolute ...

My latest recomendations.
The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale. Its a series with two other books so far. If you must know, it is a story based off of the Grimm's fairy tale "The Goose Girl". Just for fun, if you read this book, read the fairy tale first. (Do no freet, it is really short, like read in 5-10 minutes short.)

Brooke recommended a book called "The Blue Sword" by Robin McKinley to me. I haven't read much fantasy, so she thought it might be a light one to get started with. It was suprisingly good!! I really enjoyed it and was very happy with the ending. (An important thing for me) Try it on for size if you feel like stepping into another time.

I read this book last weekend and it was really good. It was really short (maybe thats why it ws so good) JK. It is a really touching story, it might make you cry....1 or 2 or 23 times. It is a good pick-me-up book to read. Read it and let me know your thoughts...

If ya'll are a little concerned what to do with your life now that you have completey snarfed down Breaking Dawn, here is a good little suggestion for dessert. Besides the Twilight Series, this book is probably my favorite of all time. (It is a pretty close tie with Bram Stoker's Dracula)

The Historian, by Elizabeth Kostova. After reading this you will want to read Bram Stoker's Dracula anyway. It is a little intense boring in the first couple chapters but READER BEWARE....it gets good!!!! ...

I don't really think this book is appropriate for the book club selection, but it is an amazing book that I think every woman should read. The book is "Basic Black: The Essential Guide for Getting Ahead at Work (and in Life)", by Cathie Black. Cathie is the President of Hearst Magazines, which basically produces every magazine you see on the news stands. My mom gave this book to me for Christmas last year, probably to give me some encouragement to make it through school. As I have ...
